Coaches, Staff, Managers:
All coaches in your program, staff and managers who have contact with minors must be screened and take SafeSport training prior to any roster placement and working with the players. Screening is done through NY State Hockey and the Commercial Investigations Group.
Visit NYSAHA.com for additional information and link. There is a fee for screening. Non-USA citizens will need to check the non-citizen box to screen internationally. There may be an additional or higher fee for an international screen. When your people screen they should send you their confirmation screening # with date screened. Keep a list of these numbers to submit to NYSAHA.
Working with your clubs ACE Coordinator you will need to provide information on the coaches CEP Level, Module, Screening and SafeSport training to ensure each one meets the requirements of USAH and the NY District. In some cases leagues make rules stronger and as a registrar you will need to familiarize yourself with the rules and requirements of the league your teams participate in. The Association Hockey Director is responsible for the implementation of the USA Hockey Coaching Education Programs through a network of Association Hockey Directors—ACE. The objective is successful implementation of parent and coaching education and player skill development at the local hockey association level. As registrar you are to provide timely reports and updates on coaches in your program. There is a report in the USAH Registry that can be created and sent to the ACE coordinator in your program.
USA Hockey has established the ACE Program to provide a vital communication link between your local association and USA Hockey's Coaching Education Program. Your local associations ACE Director will assist your association in developing a well-trained coaching staff, help your coaches manage their CEP requirements, and promote and facilitate other USA Hockey programs such as the ADM, the Red, White and Blue Program (Cross-ice / Skill Development, Parent Education, and the Player Development Program.
